Tasting Notes

Character:
The strength and presence of The Bruichladdich Twenty One is undeniable. But with a little time, the layered complexity opens to reveal Bruichladdich’s classic, delicate style gently wrapped in a blanket of aged oak. The sherry casks bring dried dark fruits, spices, and aged leather, while the American oak accentuates the citrus and floral style of Bruichladdich – with this light and shade adding balance and depth to the single malt Scotch whisky

Taste:
Spices initially dominate the palate, with a robust mix of nutmeg, black liquorice, sultanas, and dates enhanced with leather and charred aged oak. A second sip highlights the flavours from the oak with the sherry casks bringing dried fruit, chocolate and almond while the American oak provides vanilla, sweet toffee, brown sugar, and honey. A splash of water once again opens up the marine character, along with vibrant citrus fruits and floral notes of geranium and lavender
